BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – On Saturday, students apart of the Bay High Special Advance International Certificate of Education program held a dessert fest at Tommy Oliver Stadium.

The program is geared towards teaching students key skills that will help them succeed as they carry on through their academic careers.

The group had to present several ideas and conduct feasibility studies before they were able to begin contacting vendors and organizing the event.

Bryceson Roney and his group say that in addition to the academic skills they took away from the project, they also learned a number of helpful life lessons along the way.

“It’s definitely that outreach is important and getting the community involved and it’s definitely important to have a successful event. Yeah, well, it’s just a life lesson that you need to reach outside of your comfort zone to bring more people in and not just your regular circle that you’re used to,” Bay County group member Bryceson Roney said.

Students will also receive feedback from the vendors on how they feel the event went, what went well, and what could be improved upon.
