A 22-year-old man allegedly behind the murder of his father in Stoney Creek, Ont., is wanted and considered armed and dangerous, Hamilton police said.

Authorities were called to a home in the Trafalgar Drive and Mud Street West area just after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Officers located a man with severe injuries, and the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

That man was identified as 56-year-old Kuldip Singh of Stoney Creek, Ont. On Monday, police said the suspect is 22-year-old Sukhraj Cheema-Singh, the victim’s son.

Cheema-Singh is wanted by investigators for first-degree murder and allegedly fled driving a dark blue 2022 Ford Edge SUV with the Québec licence plate FSC 7432 that was last seen travelling northbound on Trafalgar Drive towards Mud Street.

A police spokesperson said the suspect vehicle is believed to be an Enterprise rental car and could have a sticker indicating it as such.

Cheema-Singh is considered armed and dangerous, and members of the public are urged not to approach him and to call 911. A photo of the suspect has been released.
