Beach safety director, Darryl Paul says for those enjoying their day off because alcohol is a diuretic, people need to be extra mindful with their water intake.

“That always kind of plays into the element there. But we want people to visit responsibly. We want people to be safe when they’re visiting our beaches. So if you are consuming alcohol, please try and, you know, throw the occasional water in there as well. You know, once you have a good time, create long-lasting memories with your families and your friends. But please visit responsibly and safely,” the PCB Beach Safety Director said.

Paul recommends drinking a bottle of water every 30 minutes and throwing in electrolytes like Gatorade or Pedialyte.

He says eating food can also be beneficial in preventing some heat-related illnesses.
