BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – On Tuesday, City Commissioners agreed to spend about $155,000 to repair approximately 55 joints along the Downtown Panama City Marina T-dock.

There are about 1,800 joints around the entire T-dock. Over time, parts of the bulkhead have washed away, requiring repairs. City officials have barricaded the damaged joints to keep pedestrians safe.

Tarpon Dock Bridge closed due to heat expansion

The money for the repairs is coming out of marina operations funds. Mainline Construction will go underwater and use dye to determine where the joints are leaking, then fill up the joint above the water line.

“When you have the perimeter like that and those washouts forming and kind of that base, that’s important because that’s the foundation of the uplands part of the marina that we’re getting ready to move into planning phase wise and construction wise with building out of additional docks,” Panama City City Manager Jonathan Hayes said.

City officials plan to meet with mainline construction on Friday to set a timeline for the project.
