FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – More than six years after a Miami woman was killed in Franklin County, the second person found guilty of her murder has been sentenced.

44-year-old Christina Araujo will spend roughly the next 20 years in prison.

Co-defendant, ex-girlfriend testifies in Abell trial

Araujo and 36-year-old Zachary Abell were both accused of murdering a travel companion, 31-year-old Aileen Seiden, back in March 2018.

All three had taken a road trip from their homes in South Florida to Texas. They were on the way back when they stopped at the Sportsman Lodge in East Point where prosecutors say Abell and Araujo beat and stabbed Seiden to death.

The victim’s body was dumped on the side of Highway 98.

Abell was found guilty earlier this year and was sentenced to life in prison.

Franklin County trial continues for Miami murder suspect

Araujo pled guilty last year to second-degree murder and testified against Abel at his trial.

According to our media partner the Apalachicola Times, before Friday’s sentencing. Araujo asked for fewer years than the sentencing guidelines called for due to her cooperation and due to the violence she claims to have suffered at the hands of Abel.
